Bright and early on Saturday, May 19, Ultimate Frisbee teams came to compete for the title of champions. The idea to have this tournament was brought up by Soccer Coach, Swim Coach and Spanish Teacher Brandon Jerrell. It served as a fundraiser for the boys soccer team and the profit would come from the playing fees and the money they would make from the concessions.
“The soccer team made $255. Not a bad haul, but to make it worth the trouble we will have to up the price next year. There is a lot of setting up and tearing down behind the scenes,” said Jerrell.
The tournament ended up lasting around 3 hours and the championship game was between The Jaguars, which consisted of Brantley Deaton (10), Cyrus Petty (9), Laurenz Rohwedder (11) and Kynleigh Watson (10) and The Disc Hawks, which included Camden Jones (11), Kassidy Tutterow (11), Ethan Mullins (10) and teacher/ coach Brandon Jerrell.
“There was a good turn out and I was happy to be apart of it. Things like the ultimate frisbee tournament are memories I will always cherish,” said Kynleigh Watson (10).
