Cross Country started its season Thursday, Aug. 16, at Seymour. The course conditions were not very good, as most of it was wet and muddy with runners falling all over the place. The boys placed ninth at that meet.
On Aug. 21, the team participated in Silver Creek’s Hokum Karem, which is a kind of relay meet for cross country. Two people pair up to run, each partner running one mile then tagging off to the other until each has ran three miles, but six in total. SHS had three pairs enter the race from the boys’ team. Two of the three pairs won top 25 in the race and earned medals: Tristian Rowland, Isaac Johanningmeier, Justin Padgett and Brock Adams. The team placed eighth out of the 11 teams that competed.
At Little Four in Paoli, the team placed first. Five of the boys on the team placed top 10.
“We’re bringing the heat,” said Johanningmeier.
