Boys’ tennis team pushing through long weeks

The SHS boys’ tennis started out the season with a win over Eastern 5-0 on Aug. 16, and a big win over sectional opponent, Seymour 3-2 on Aug. 17. This past week the team played conferences matches on Aug. 21-23. All resulting in wins against  Corydon 5-0, Charlestown 5-0 and Brownstown 4-1.

Mark Hays (12) said, “Having so many matches in a week is very tiring, but we pulled through and won all our conference matches.”

The team also played in the New Albany Invitational Aug. 24 and 25. The boys placed fourth coming in behind Silver Creek, Providence and New Albany, placing in the top three were number three singles Jordy Smith (10) and number one singles Camden Jones (12).

Coach Tyler Jackson said, “ It is always a tough tournament with four teams ranked in our district participating in it this year. Overall, we are going to have a great season, and I really hope some of you will come out to support the team this year.”
