Girls’ cross country breaks personal records at meet

Breaking personal records and improving as a whole is what the Girls’ Cross Country team has been working on this past week.

The team has competed in two meets in the last week. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the team raced at The Big Blue Invitational. The girls ended up placing 5th, having two team members placing in the top 25. Eliza Mount placed 23rd while Lyndie Foster placed 25th in the invitational.

“I think that a lot of people got close to breaking their personal records, but it was hard for them because they got hurt at Brown County. But overall it was a good meet,” said Eliza Mount (12)

The team raced at Crawford County on Saturday, Sept. 15. Coach Bobby Ashley’s goals for the team were “to run their best on the course because it is so rough.”

Ashley also stated that is was not an average meet. Typically, every runner runs together at a meet. At this certain meet, you run against people that are in your grade. Sophomores/ freshmen run together and same for senior/juniors.

The team did not end up placing at the meet, but they have high hopes for the up and coming meets.
