In hopes for cooler weather, the girls’ cross country team has been getting closer to autumn and sectional. The team competed at the Silver Creek Invitational and at the Duke Meyer Invitational at Hanover College.
When the team lined up to race at Silver Creek on Sept. 18, the temperature was 91 degrees. Coach Bobby Ashley stated, “When the temperature is that hot, you just hope everybody finishes upright.”
They ended up placing 6th, with Eliza Mount coming in 34th with a time of 25:18.96.
On Sept. 22, they raced at the Duke Meyer Invitational. Running on the same course of the upcoming sectional meet, the team was glad to get a feel of the path.
Baylee Comer placed 25th with a time of 23.29.6, and overall the team placed 5th.
Taylor Bess (10) said, “If we run like we did at this meet at sectionals, we are going to make it to regionals”.
