Boys’ soccer team prepares for sectional through MSC game

Boys’ soccer is still pushing through the season, working to improve and achieve their goals set at the beginning of the season.

According to Coach Brandon Jerrell the team still needs to improve their ability to beat defenders one on one, but they have improved immensely when it comes to passing and finishing.

The team did collect quite the highlight recently though, according to Jerrell. They “beat Salem 3-1 and Southwestern 4-1. To my knowledge, 4-1 is the best win we have ever had against Southwestern,” he explained.

The boys also played their Warrior Cup recently, and although they gave a good push, they didn’t get the results they’d hoped fo rain the end.

“We beat both Austin and Henryville 9-0. We lost to Charlestown 1-0 in the championship. They scored a free kick in the second half of over-time,” said Jerrell.

The team tied Jennings County 1-1 last night.

Coming up is their senior night and their game against Corydon tonight at 6 p.m., which will decide who finishes third in MSC.

“This season has been much better than last year. We are playing together as a team and our attitude and sportsmanship have improved immensely as well,” said Jerrell.
