Club volleyball beginning as school season comes to close

The end of many school volleyball teams’ seasons have came to an end, so that means club season is just beginning. Many players participate in club teams during the off season to stay in shape and to keep improving in the sport. Club volleyball is also a great option for new players wanting to learn how to play or to see if volleyball is the right sport for them. There are many different volleyball teams in the area that differ in location, cost, and tryout dates.

  Prodigy club volleyball is from New Albany. Practices vary between coaches, but can take place at nearby schools including Hazelwood, Silver Creek, Fairmont, New Albany, and Floyd Central. Tryouts will be held on Oct. 27 and 18 for players ages 10-14 and Nov. 3 and 4 for players ages 15-18. Another nearby club is Union. Union’s tryouts, meetings, and practices vary between the locations of the SISC facility in New Albany, Indiana and Top Gun facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Tryouts will held on Oct. 27 for ages 14 and under, and Nov. 3 for ages 15 and up. To register for tryouts or for more information, get on

Kiva is also a club volleyball program from Louisville. Tryouts are open from now until December. Kiva also offers training sessions during tryout season to help you improve to make the team you want. To register or find out more, go on to or call (502) 473-1200.

Another club located in Louisville is MAVA (MidAmerica Volleyball Association). Tryouts for ages 10-14 will be on Oct. 27 and tryouts for ages 15-18 will be Nov. 3. Vortex volleyball club is located in Charlestown. There will be an informational meeting Oct. 21 at 4 p.m. at Charlestown High School. Online registration is on Team Vortex’s FaceBook page and there is no obligation or cost to pre-register.
