The boys’ cross country team has been working hard since the beginning of its season. At the second meet of the season, the boys placed sixth out of eighth at Silver Creek’s Ho Kum Karem meet. It is ran like a relay meet, with the boys partnering up and each running one mile at a time until both partners have ran three miles each. Their times are then combined, and the team is scored from that.
“I think it was a slow start, but as we move through the season, we will accelerate and progress,” said Tristian Rowland, co-captain of the team (11).
The boys placed second at the Little Four meet at Crawford County High School. They competed against North Harrison, Paoli and Crawford County. On Saturday, Aug. 31, the boys traveled to Salem for their first invitational. The team finished the meet with two personal records (PRs) under its belt.
Sept. 7, the team will compete at Columbus North, one of the biggest meets of the season. There, it will face over 30 teams, but the course will be a lot smoother than most. Next week on Sept. 10, the team will hold Senior Night at Hardy Lake before the Scottsburg Invitational. The boys’ team has three seniors: Justin Padgett, Brock Adams and Andrew Foster.
