For the first time in school history, the Scottsburg High School fishing team won the Indiana Bass Federation High School State Fish-off, becoming state champions. The state competition was held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at Morse Reservoir in Noblesville. At the tournament, which consisted of 16 teams from across the state, four of the eight teams who qualified from the south were from SHS. Overall, the SHS team won the tournament with Jameson Hale (11) and Ethan Weaver (11) winning first place. Individual scores have not yet been released; however, Hale and Weaver had a five fish bag (teams are only allowed five fish in their boat at all times) weighing 12 pounds, seven ounces with Weaver having a big bass of 4.7 ounces.
