Protests to be expected on Columbine anniversary

The second protest for ‘March for Our Lives’ will be held on Friday, April 20. The protests are going to be occurring at thousands of high schools across the world, but mainly in America. The protests are held to tell legislators and lawmakers that we need stronger gun laws, common sense gun reform, and stronger background checks. They say guns need to be registered like cars. This is going to be the last protest. Over 100 students protested in the last protest, while the numbers for expected participation in this protest are still unknown.

Annual Ag Day Breakfast approaching

The Scottsburg FFA Chapter will be hosting their annual Ag Day Breakfast on Saturday, March 12 in the Scottsburg High School Commons from 6:30 a.m to 9 a.m. If you are are planning on attending or want to attend, you will be able to purchase tickets from the Scottsburg FFA members or you can also buy a ticket at the door for $0.50. FFA holds FFA week for SHS

The Scottsburg FFA held FFA week SHS for FFA members to participate in and enjoy. They held this event during the week of February 19-23. The week consisted of Monday being Teacher Appreciation Day and Wear Red, White and Blue Day. Tuesday was Can you find Ag in your Advisory? Day and Wednesday was Hat Day (1$). FFA Members Greenhand Breakfast at 7am on Wednesday as well. Thursday was Dress like your favorite Cowboy or Indian Day and Friday was Teacher Appreciation Day and Wear Blue and Gold Day. To conclude the week, the FFA members were all invited to go on a fun trip to Strike and Spare in Clarksville to enjoy time together as a group and conclude the week with some fun!

FFA succeeds at District Contest

On Saturday, March 3, 2018 the Scottsburg FFA traveled to Hope and Howser High School for the annual District Contest. Scottsburg FFA took 15 to contest. The following were the events they participated in and placed in.

Ag Sales – 2nd Kaitlyn Borden, Animal Science Demo – 2nd Emma Hall, Essay – 1st Jaiden Herald, Freshman Creed – Sam Everett, Freshman Public Speaking – Trenton Brown 3rd, Job Interview – Sydney Garriott, Leadership Ambassador – 2nd Emma Hall, Prepared Public Speaking – Tessa Richey, Quiz Bowl – 1st Brandon Deaton, Shirley Witt, Jaiden Herald and Kaitlinne Moldero, Digital Scrap Book – Kaitlinne Moldero, Talent – 1st Kaitlinne Moldero, Discovery Creed – Jenna Buckner 2nd, Discovery Food Science Demo – Lexi Edwards and Hannah Smith, Discovery Quiz Bowl – 1st Jaylyn Cross, Jenna Buckner, Brinley Soloe, Makeely Stidham, Discovery Prepared Public Speaking – Jaylyn Cross.

So all together Scottsburg FFA went to compete in 15 events, placed in 10 and won 1st in 5.
