Cheatham’s new Maranatha club

By Jaiden Herald

Coach Donna Cheatham has recently started a new Maranatha club for SHS students. Meetings are held every week during advisory on Tuesday and Thursday.

According to Cheatham, the purpose of the club it to provide an open forum for students to ask questions and hold discussions amongst their peers that is faith based. Cheatham would like students to bring their ideas and questions to meetings so the group can discuss and research.

“I want to get kids to think in a different way and see life in a new way. It is completely open. Students can discuss anything. We want to steer the conversation back to biblical means but it is wide open for all avenues of questions,” said Cheatham.

Annual Scottsburg FFA Ag Day Breakfast

By Jenna Buckner (FFA reporter)

Scottsburg FFA will be hosting their 38th annual Ag Day Breakfast in conjunction with the Scott County Farm Bureau on March 16th, 2019 in the Scottsburg High School Commons from 6:30-9:00 in the morning. The breakfast is held annually to educate the community members of how much a farmer makes off of the food that is served for breakfast. For a
breakfast of sausage, eggs, a biscuit with gravy and either milk or orange juice, a farmer would typically make 50 cents.

During the breakfast this year, we are also asking attendees to bring in any plastic bottle caps that they may have or have saved up. The Scott County 4-H, Farm Bureau, and FFA have been collecting these over the past several months so they can be used in the making of benches in memoriam of Annalee Turley to be placed on the Scott County Fairgrounds. The community participation in collecting bottle caps would be greatly appreciated, every cap counts.

Tickets can be purchased from FFA members or at the door the morning of the breakfast. If you would like to pre-order any to-go orders feel free to contact Asya at 812-697-1588. We would love to see you there!
