Save your summertime skin

Summer is right around the corner and so is the free time to eat whenever and whatever you want. If the wrong kinds of foods are eaten, your skin may get clogged pores, irritation and more. Eating the proper foods can help you maintain healthy skin.

Water helps keeps skin moisturized, helps blood flow and helps cells take in nutrients and get rid of toxins. It is recommended to drink 8 glasses a day. Water can be found in fruits, vegetables, juice and milk.

Dark chocolate contains high levels of flavonoid (a potent type of antioxidant) that hydrates your skin making it firmer and more supple.

Taste of Scott County

Taste of Scott County raised money for CASA and some of the money will go towards an endowment fund. The live auction at this event was held at Mid America Science Park from 5-8 p.m. on April 29.

Goat Milk Stuff won for the category Best Taste for the second year in a row, Best Appetizer, and Best Breakfast Entree. Cakes by Peggy won Best Dessert. The Best Entree award went to Morgan’s Food. The Best BBQ award went to Hardy’s Cafe.

Country Kitchens received the Best Sandwich award. The Waters of Scottsburg won an award for Best Soup. Java Station 56 won an award for the best non-alcoholic drink.

The celebration of Holi

Celebrated mostly in India, Holi is a Hindu spring festival. This festival is often celebrated in multiple colleges around the world, too. It’s known as the festival of colors and love that celebrate the victory of good over evil. 

People throw water colors and powders onto others with loud music playing. The colors are made from flowers and trees which had no chemicals in them, but over time, there have been chemicals added to these colors. People also play games with their family and friends and run from others who have color in their hands trying not to get it onto them.
